Does my girlfriend have a vaginal blood clot or could it be a miscariage?
My girlfriend has been on ortho evra (birth control patch) for one month now. She wore it for 3 weeks then on the 4th you take it off and get your period. She took it off 3 days ago and today got what she thought was her period. She put a pad on and later today she felt like she peed her pants and checked and there was more blood than usual and there was a piece of bloody tissue that kind of looked like afterbirth or something about the size of a quarter. What could this be? She can’t tell her parents and is hesitant about going to a doctor. Can anyone help?
She would have to go to planned parenthood and really doesn’t want to. Does anyone have more info on what exactly a vaginal blood clot is or looks like? She also has been having really bad cramps these last two days and has never had them before during her period, but this was also the first time she has been on birth control. AH, please help!
some birth control can cause a girls period to be either lighter or heavier than normal. Did the blood go through the pad? if she bleeds so much that the pads aren’t working then she will need to see a doctor, the loss of blood can cause anemia. I miss carried when i was younger and ended up having to have two blood transfusions from loss of blood. If she isn;t bleeding quite that heavily leave it a few days, if the bleeding doesn’t slow then seek medical help!

If it were a miscarriage or fetal tissue it would be grayish. That being said, it’s probably just period blood/tissue which can be brownish or even black.

It’s probably just a chunk of the lining of her uterus. Gross but normal.

It is nothing to be worried about. That is normal for women with a heavy flow period. Just tell her to buy thicker pads or tampons made for a heavy flow. Also really bad cramps are normal, eat bananas or take Midol. And if she miscarried, she wouldn’t be having afterbirth. She would be bleeding so much you have to soak it up with towels. Be careful, even though she is on birth control, USE PROTECTION!!!

I’m a girl who has had this same problem since I was 13. And I’ve also miscarried once.
