can you feel a blood clot?

i carved a small X in my arm w/ a knife yesterday (im not a cutter, it was spontanious) and today like an inch to the right i can feel a small bump, could it be a blood clot or can’t you feel blodclots?

Sometimes you can feel them, but only from the inside of your body, I think. They feel more like throbbing, or just plain pain.

What you are most likely feeling is natural clotting occuring to heal the wound combined with your immune system sending antibodies to the site of the cut.

you usually cannot feel a blood clot unless its the size of a marble or bigger and if thats the case, there would be weakness, tingling and loss of color in your arm or fingers

find more productive spontaneous things to do with yourself please

It’s quite possible it’s a blood clot of the type known as a hematoma.

May I suggest first you go to a doctor and get treated for infection. Second go to a Shrink and get treated for cutting yourself. Not the best way to express yourself. Now – You can feel some blood clots. It depends on how big and where it is. As for there on your arm, a doctor would be the best choice but I already said that.

It would more likely be an infection. Put some antibiotic ointment like Neosporin on it and keep an eye on it for changes. Also, if you aren’t current on your tetanus shots you should get a booster shot. If you have insurance, the shot is usually free as long as you just have a nurse at the clinic do it for you instead of a doctor visit. If it gets bigger or changes color then see a doctor.

Typically you will not feel a blood clot; however, your extremity will get swollen and painful, possibly discolored, and you may experience numbness and tingling in the extremity.

DVTs or deep vein thromboses, are most common in the lower extremities.

If you have any of the above symptoms you should see a doctor immediately.

A threatening blood clot is usually extremely painful and can cause radiating pain throughout the limb. It sounds as if you may have something foreign in your cut, or simply an infection. If you are truly worried about a blood cot, they are serious, and you should see a doctor immediately.

It probably is a collection of erythrocytes, blood cells which will repair the wounded area. You are a cutter, one does not spontaneously injure oneself. The is assistance out there for you, you are not alone.
