Baby born with rare blood clotting disorder Vitamin K related!

This was the beginning of the trouble we had with Izaac’s Blood clotting problems. After this we were admitted to the children’s ward where over the course of the next several weeks he became a human guinnea pig as the doctor’s tried to find out what was wrong with him. He kept having bleeds (haemorrhaging) under the sking and they were worried he would bleed into his brain and die any second!) it was soooo scary.
He had so many blood tests (2 or 3 a day) he became a little human pin cushion. It was so devestating. They were checking for haemophilia. Eventually they decided he was vitamin K defiecient because they couldn’t figure it out and they wanted to put some sort of lable on it to makethem selves feel more secure about their lack of knowlege relating to his problem. He had to have Vit K administered several times via several methods including a drip, intramuscular injection, subcutaneus injection etc.

Basically his blood wasn’t clotting quickly enough. They scanned his brain using an ultra sound. It was fine THANK GOD!
eventually he responded to treatment and his blood clotting levels normalised to within ‘an acceptable range’ and he was allowed home.

He is now a happy healthy 7 1/2 month old!

This problem is very rare. To any other parents experiencing anything like this with their baby/child etc, please don’t despare! I was told something different from every doctor I spoke to (and there were quite a few by the end of it all) ranging from ‘He could die at any second’ to ‘There’s only a one in a million chance he could bleed into the brain. all humans are at risk of this to some extent. even if he were to, the chances of him having a fit as a result of the bleed are slim and the chances of his having severe paralysis or even death as a result are slim again’ so basically ‘the chances of him actually dieing are the same as yours or mine.’ other doctors looked at me as if i were never going to take my baby home with me again and to make the most of every moment I had with him. So to sum up….no body knows enough about this problem to know how serious it is. (or isn’t)

What is LLLT?
Low level LASER Therapy (LLLT), Cold Lasers and Non thermal Lasers are synonymous terminologies for appliances which have a specified wavelength of 600 to 1000nm and 5-500milliwatts with the use of red beam or close to Infrared laser.
It is predominantly used for the treatment of carpel tunnel syndrome and other muscular and skeletal disorders like swelling and aching of mandibular joints and acute sciatic pangs. This laser when used at the problem area of the body, penetrates deep without any physical sensation, without heating or tanning the body, whereby the inherent photons in the laser beam induce the photochemical action in the body cells and tissues.
The Low level LASER Therapy acts in same fashion as the photosynthesis of the plants. The body is compared to the plant while the LASER beam is compared to the sunlight. The photons of the laser radiation travel in a coherent path with polarization whereby they give a concentrated intensified radiation in the affected part of the body. Researches have confirmed the hypothesis that Low level LASER Therapy improves cellular reconstruction, builds up the body’s resistance stimulating lymphatic, vascular, and circulatory systems. Apart from this, great results of healing have been witnessed and established for the following:-acute headaches, wounds, body pains, arthritis, blood clotting, orthodontic pains, tendonitis, tinnitus and epicondylitis .
Scientific Background
Various clinical trials and researches have reported productively the beneficial effect of the Low level LASER Therapy in most of the pain syndromes expressed above and in LASER acupuncture.
Most of the results direct us to the pain syndrome removal. That is basically due to the improved functional levels attained in the body’s cellular tissues and system processes. When the patients suffer from moderate symptoms, Low level LASER Therapy may be compared to the splinting, relaxing, steroid injection.
Low level LASER Therapy was tried out on a group of patients as a sample and found useful to them. These studies included patients with carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic venous ulcers, fibromyalgia, prevention of radiation induced mucositis in patients with head and neck cancer, neck, shoulder and back pain, tempor-mandibular joint or orthodontic pain, ankle sprain, osteoarthritis pain, Achilles tendonitis, epicondylitis.
These results were based on the random sampling statistical group studies which need to be validated across a huge sample population, but enough supporting results have been reported from various studies conducted across the world where improvement was significantly found in carpel tunnel syndrome, ultrasound treatment. Also fairly a large group studies revealed positive response for acute ankle sprain patient treatment.
LASER Accupuncture
Through the use of LASER Acupuncture, chronic tension headache of a patient experimented with the LASER acupuncture exhibited favorable results in many tests. Further even in the knee osteo-arthritis, whiplash injury, LASER acupuncture proved beneficial.
Although the experiment did not prove significant insights into the health of the patient post treatment with Acupuncture, it did reveal the usefulness of the treatment. This was a clinical observation made of the randomized samples tested and treated. However, the universal application of the Cold Laser treatment is coming of age as reported from various corners of the world.

Human Blood Clotting

What does your blood look like when it clots? The sequence from 2:02 to 2:23 shows a drop of normal blood during coagulation (clotting). The clot begins to form around a platelet in the top left hand corner and rapidly spreads through the blood plasma. The red blood cells are seen on either side and are stacked in a rouleaux formation. The fibers that form the clot are composed of fibrin, which are formed when fibrinogen is polymerized by clotting factors. The clot forms a pure fractal pattern. The whole process takes approximately two minutes.

This sequence was shot on an RTM-3 light microscope designed by Tim Richardson and built in Calgary, Canada by Richardson Technologies Inc. The microscope shows, with breathtaking clarity and contrast, the workings of living samples in real time, in full colour, and in their normal condition without having to use any fixatives, stains or fluorophores that may alter behavior or structure. Samples can be put in the RTM-3 and viewed at magnifications of 12-15,000 times, at resolutions at or below 185 nanometres and detection limits of better than 60 nanometres within less than 15 seconds.

The two still images at the end (2:33 to 2:46) show fatty particles (lyposomes) in the plasma of an individual who has been fasting and in an individual who had a fatty meal. These particles are metabolized in the liver.

FDA Licenses New Hemophilia Treatment

FDA recently licensed a new treatment for hemophilia A called Xyntha. Xyntha, which is made by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, is a genetically engineered version of factor VIII, a protein essential for blood clotting that is decreased or absent in patients with hemophilia A.

Xyntha is produced without additives from human or animal material. This provides hemophilia A patients with an additional treatment option that can further minimize the risk of infection from the product.
