Even though DVT itself is not life-threatening, the blood clot has the potential to break free and travel through the bloodstream, where it can become lodged in the blood vessels of the lung (known as a pulmonary embolism). This can be a life-threatening condition.

DVT can also lead to complications in the legs referred to as chronic venous insufficiency link (also known as post-thrombotic syndrome). This condition is characterized by pooling of blood, chronic leg swelling, increased pressure, increased pigmentation or discoloration of the skin, and leg ulcers known as venous stasis ulcer.
The goals of treatment are to reduce symptoms and reduce the risk of complications. Your healthcare provider will recommend the treatment option that is right for you. Before choosing any treatment, it is important to discuss the potential benefits, risks and side effects with your healthcare provider. You will receive specific guidelines to help you prepare for your procedure, as well as specific instructions to help your recovery.

The majority of treatments related to MTS are actually geared toward treating the DVT that is associated with the vein compression. The following are a number of different options that may be employed to treat patients presenting with DVT.

Hi, I’m Kenisha Carr and I’m a CVS pharmacist. If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with breast cancer, your head is probably full of questions about which treatments are right for you.
Currently there are two main categories of drug therapy available for breast cancer treatment in addition to chemotherapy. These categories consist of hormone medications that block estrogen to decrease the growth of breast cancer cells, and monoclonal antibodies that work to destroy the existing cancer cells with targeted chemotherapy and radiation medications.
Hormone medications function by lodging in the receptors of the harmful cells, so that estrogen can’t get to the cells and feed the tumors. The most common drug used in this type of therapy is called Tamoxifen. In treatment it has improved a woman’s 10-year survival rate by 5 to 11 percent. In prevention, it can decrease the risk of developing more cancer, in the same breast or in the other breast, by 50 percent. The drug does have rare but serious side effects, including uterine cancer, blood clots, cataracts, and menopause-like symptoms.
In the other category of treatment, the monoclonal antibodies are proteins that function by carrying chemo medications or radiation directly to the cancer cells, in order to destroy them. This type of drug is used with more aggressive forms of breast cancers. Trastuzumab was the first FDA-approved drug for this treatment. Patients who use this drug along with chemotherapy were half as likely to see a cancer recurrence. There are only a few side effects associated with this drug, such as flu-like symptoms, breathing problems, and allergic reactions, and it may not be the right form of treatment for patients that are at risk for heart disease.

The Snider student has not been able to go to school for more than two months after an onset of non-epileptic seizures.

The frightening episodes manifested soon after she received a Gardasil vaccination.

Lydia Miller/Mother: ” She had symptoms within days. The seizures started within weeks and really that was the only thing that we saw that was different in her life.”

The drug’s maker, Merck, lists seizure-like symptoms as one of a number of possible side effects.

Yet it’s recommended by several respected medical authorities including the Centers for Disease Control, as a way to protect against genital warts and 70 percent of the cancer-causing strains of the HPV virus.

But a government report released this summer linked the vaccine to higher incidences of fainting and blood clots and to 32 unexplained deaths.

Go on to read the rest of the article and what TOSH, seriously, clearly once again these people dealing with this case, no nothing about VAERS, when they should do, as they have to report them there and if they do, had they checked it out, they’d see least 70% I’d say, maybe more, concerning Gardasil.

From Hamilton – Patients with a blood clot in their leg or lung are at significant risk of recurrence within 3 years of the initial event. In a study of over 1600 patients with either deep venous thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, nearly 5% developed a second blood clot located in the lung and 20% had another in the leg over a 3 year time frame. In addition, nearly 10% developed significant bleeding to the point where a transfusion was necessary.

And finally, from Boston – A new study has evaluated over 200 residents with advanced dementia residing in 21 nursing homes, where the average patient received 4 courses of antibiotics. Patients were 7 times more likely to receive antibiotics in their last 2 weeks of life than at other periods of time. Some question whether such frequent use of antibiotics is the preferred practice in such patients as it may not increase quality of life and may raise the risk of antibiotic resistance.

The Canadian Society of Nuclear Medicine issued a statement on Thursday saying the nuclear medicine community is “devastated” by the shortage, which it estimates will cause delays in treatment for 50,000 Canadians each month that services are reduced.
