my boyfriend has uc …
my boyfriend has uc and has had blood clot problems twice. One was in his heart and had to have open heart surgery and then a few years later he had one in his lung too along with some in other places of his body. he was only on coumadin for a year. They never found out why he got the clots they just said it’s common in people with uc or crohns. He hasn’t had the surgery he is thinking about taking remicade right now. I hope he decides to get the surgery instead though.

Sorry to hear of the complication. I had the opposite problem. My surgery was delayed for 6 weeks due to very low platelets (my blood would not clot properly). Fortunately, low platelets are often an extra manifestation of UC, so after surgery my platelets should normalize. I would recommend researching foods and supplements for yourself that help thin out the blood naturally. Off the top of my head I know spirulina, primrose oil, and tomatoes all help thin the blood. I’m sure there are others.
