Severe period cramps help?10 points.?
Ok so this question is pretty much for girls and its detailed,ok so it’s that time of month for me again and my period was late this month so I got it today and I always get really really bad cramps I mean they hurt so bad I get tears in my eyes and I don’t feel like getting up at times and they last for a while they don’t go away very fast usually last like a hour or so sometimes alot longer. So usually I have to sit on my bed with a heating pad over my lower stomach. But they’re so hard to put up with in school and stuff and I have awards tomorrow so I don’t wanna be in pain all day so I was wondering if you guys have any tips on how to ease the pain it would help me alot and yes I have tried midol I took one 2 hours ago when my pains barely started and it hasn’t helped! So if you have any advice it would be much appreciated. Also my sister called today she’s 10 years older than me (23) and she went to the doctor and she found out that she has a ovarian cyst and she was asking me questions about me period and things and I told her and she said she had the same symtoms, blood clots, bad cramps,(i could go on)that sort of thing so also told me that the doctor told her that if she has one it’s most likely that I or my mom could have them too.So she insist I go to the doctor and get checked too but I’m nervous because I’m 13 what do they do at the gyn or when they check for ovarian cysts? (I’m really sorry if this is long but I’ll give 10 points.) Thank youu ![]()

Sounds like your period is still regulating itself, if you get really bad cramps (like I did) then ask your mom if you can try a 3 month birth control. Birth control isnt necessarily for sex, it can help regulate, and since you have very severe periods this sounds like a thing for you and you only get your period 4 times a year.

Try a hot bath to get rid of the cramps. I’m not really sure but I think they just feel for them…on the outside of course.

SO sorry that this is burdening you! WHAT A PAIN! I would check for cysts! My friend was only thirteen when she figured she had bunches! Go to your doctor. I know it feels embarasing for you but, doctors are really used to this sort of thing. Save yourself the pain and go to a doctor. In the meantime, ibprofen helps me a lot becuase the way the painkiller is designed so it goes directly to your uterus if it is painful there. It does this better than advil or any other generic painkiller on the market. There are also many different perscription medications on the market that a doctor and give to you but sweetheart you need to see a doctor. Even if its a male, if you don’t know what to do, they’ll be happy to explain. Its not like these adults with PHDs are thinking ‘haha she has a cyst’ or ‘o she asked a question…shes a neebie’
I hope this was help for and that you go see a doctor,
Hope things improve!

Definitely go to the doctor! If you have one you can get it removed and have all this trouble gone, because you most likely have one. Don’t be afraid, maybe get your sister to take you if you’re nervous about asking your mom. You want to get this checked out.
As for right now: get in a hot bath and just lay there til you start feeling better. Take 2 Tylenol and when you wake up in the morning immediately take 2 Tylenol before the cramps can even start! Eat bananas and avoid milk, and make sure to drink lots of water. A good stretch I do to ease the pain is lay on my stomach, put my hands in front of me and push up, so you’re in a position like this:

I hope this helps, if you feel bad during the night try walking around your room and doing that stretch a little, splash some cold water on your face and put either your hand, a heating pad, or a warm towel over your stomach. Definitely try to get some sleep, I recommend putting on some music or play some noises to help you get a good, deep sleep.
And if you’re at school and you feel bad, just ask to go to the nurse. She’ll probably give you some medicine and let you lay down til you feel better. That’s what our nurse does, and she even gives us animal crackers and juice. Most school nurses are really nice about these things, so don’t be nervous to ask!
These things work for me, think of it like this: in a couple days you’ll feel amazing again!
) Good luck!

It could be a cyst, but it’s most likely just bad cramps. If you are concerned that you do have a cyst though, you should have your mom take you to the doctor. They’ll use an ultrasound to look at your ovaries, totally painless. When I had one, shortly after they found it it ended up rupturing which just felt like really awful menstrual cramps. When you’re a little bit older, you can get on the birth control pill which will help regulate your cramps and your PMS symptoms won’t be nearly as severe. (:

Before you panic about ovarian cysts….
Make an appointment with your doctor. He/She is more qualified to advise you on this more than the entire yahoo community. In the meantime…
I have been plagued by menstrual cramps since my 3rd period. I’ve never heard of any reasons for why my cramps are so terrible. It doesn’t appear to be genetic, and I don’t have any sort of illness or disorder that would cause such intense pain.
And I mean INTENSE! I used to throw up sometimes the pain was so bad. I couldn’t move, I could hardly speak, I’d just lay down as soon as I could and try to fall asleep, which was nearly impossible. One two occasions, the pain was so terrible I fainted. I was so embarrassed, everyone kept telling me to just "get over it". It was incredibly isolating and upsetting, because if it happened in school, sometimes I couldn’t do anything but curl up in the hallway, the teachers always thought I was high or something. Nothing helped, not Advil, Pamprin, hot baths, nothing. It got so bad that when I knew I was about to get it, I’d have to cancel all my plans for the day and just wait it out. In all honesty, the only thing that has ever worked for me is a birth control pill. My doctor was skeptical about putting me on it because I was 13 at the time too, but nothing else worked. It immediately worked, my cramps the next month were much less severe, and eventually disappeared entirely. If you and your mom are comfortable with that idea, you should definitely consider it. Talk it over with your doctor. You will probably have a GYN exam, which is a little unsettling, but not painful. They just check to make sure your plumbing is all in order, they will tell you if any unusual cells or potential cysts are detected. Again, ask your doctor.
